Authentic handcrafted accessories for the modern conscionista, emiLime was created by designer and fashion anthropologist Emily E. Green in 2009 after stumbling upon Peruvian artisans while travel in South America. emiLime´s accessories are a blend of modern style and traditional techniques combined with the high quality that is synonymous with artisanal production. Using only natural materials, emiLime fashions a unique, handmade style supported by a collective artisan story about the inspirational process from inception to creation.
The world has become a global market, and it is easy to feel disconnected to the things we purchase. emiLime strives to be involved in every element of production, from material sourcing to working directly with the artisans who hand craft every emiLime item.These women who work with us are able to integrate knitting of emiLime accessories into their daily lives, and thus supplement their incomes. We spend much of our time in Peru meeting our knitters who make all of this possible.
Every product is fully traceable including where we source, what are in the products, and who actually hand knits the items. By doing this, our customer not only has an amazing product that they can use, but also has the full story behind it. This creates an awareness and a connection for the consumer, while never sacrificing style. All our designs are created as a collaborative effort between emiLime and the artisans.
emiLime's owner and designer, Emily E. Green, is in Peru during the design process and for production to ensure the fair treatment of everyone involved. She also draws inspiration from the amazing country and artisans.
